ALSA 136 - Group Dynamics


3 credits

This course is an introduction to the theory and principles of group process with emphasis on work counseling with clients with substance use disorders. By its very nature a course in group counseling must be experiential. All students will be expected and encouraged to participate in the group activities. The course meets the requirements for Washington State Department of Health; Substance Use Disorder Professional License. This course is specific to Drug and Alcohol addicted individuals and meets the requirement for content area WAC 246-811-030 (Section L).

Course Outcomes
  • Identify theoretical framework.
  • Demonstrate the skills necessary to lead group sessions.
