ALSA 210 - Substance Use Disorder Treatment and the Law 2 credits
The course will cover the interaction of Substance Use Disorder treatment facilities and the various elements of the judicial system. A primary focus will be the legal responsibility of the Substance Use Disorder Professional in the State of WA. The course meets the requirements for Washington State Department of Health; Substance Use Disorder Professional License. This course is specific to Drug and Alcohol addicted individuals and meets the requirement for content area WAC 246-811-030 (Section W, R, & S).
Theory Hours 2 theory hours.
Vocational Program Course Vocational program course.
AA General Elective May be used as a general elective in the AA degree.
Course Outcomes
- Washington State Judicial System, Washington Administrative Codes pertaining to drug and alcohol treatment.
- Demonstrate skills utilizing ASAM placement criteria and the purpose of ASAM criteria.
- Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and boundary issues.
- Examine treatment planning.
