ALSA 210 - Substance Use Disorder Treatment and the Law

2 credits

The course will cover the interaction of Substance Use Disorder treatment facilities and the various elements of the judicial system. A primary focus will be the legal responsibility of the Substance Use Disorder Professional in the State of WA. The course meets the requirements for Washington State Department of Health; Substance Use Disorder Professional License. This course is specific to Drug and Alcohol addicted individuals and meets the requirement for content area WAC 246-811-030 (Section W, R, & S).

Course Outcomes

Washington State Judicial System, Washington Administrative Codes pertaining to drug and alcohol treatment.
Demonstrate skills utilizing ASAM placement criteria and the purpose of ASAM criteria.
Demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality and boundary issues.
Examine treatment planning.
