BASF 331 - Modern Land Management 5 credits
Prerequisites Admission to the BAS-FRM program or instructor permission.
This course exposes students to the different professional outcomes that can be achieved with a Forest Resources Management degree. Students will explore some of the most common contemporary issues in land management in the State of Washington, and how professionals in the field deal with those issues. Different types of forest ownership and management styles will be compared and contrasted with an emphasis on unique landowner perspectives. Cutting edge technologies and management techniques will be introduced and analyzed in context to applications and future developments.
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Describe contemporary issues in modern forest land management
- Assess alternative management options to modern forest resource issues
- Apply knowledge of modern laws, policies, and practices to contemporary forest management issues
