ELA 045 - English Language Acquisition - Reading II

Prerequisites
Appropriate CASAS placement score, a P grade in ELA 040, or instructor permission.

This course is a continuation of content taught in Reading I and will continue to contextualize curriculum for workforce skills. The class will emphasize reading skills needed to communicate more effectively and begin to explore a pathway to further education or employability. Reading strategies that increase understanding of fundamental math concepts will also be included.

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will:

Show comprehension of a variety of college/career-related texts
Develop vocabulary to improve reading skills
Apply reading strategies to improve comprehension of texts
