HIST& 117 - Western Civilization II 5 credits
Prerequisites Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 095 or placement in ENGL& 101 , or instructor permission.
A survey of European society, politics and culture from Late Antiquity to Scientific Revolution, emphasizing feudalism, the battles between Church and State, the Crusades, growth of the nation state, the Renaissance and Reformation, as high and popular culture. We will explore the roots of the early modern era and the shattering of the medieval consensus.
Theory Hours 5 theory hours.

Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate the ability to gather, contextualize, and present multiple views of historical data.
- Demonstrate ability in using basic historical methods such as the understanding of primary sources and the appropriate use of other scholars’ work.
