BASM 307 - Quantitative Design, Data, Analysis 5 credits
Prerequisites Admission to the BASOM or BS program, completion of MATH& 146 with a “C” or better.
This course illustrates research design issues related to the social sciences including types of studies, sampling, data collection techniques, research ethics, and report writing. Students will utilize data analysis and presentation strategies including measures of central tendency and parametric testing (e. g., t-test, ANOVA, Pearson Correlation) to present research information and justify management decisions.
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
•Explain how mathematics and scientific principles are used to interpret behavior and critically assess the limitations of scientific explanations in behavioral contexts.
•Develop, test, and evaluate behavioral theories using mathematical models and scientific research methods.
•Describe the stages of the research process and identify variables and factors that can influence research outcomes.
•Analyze statistical data and research findings to inform and support sound management decisions.
•Communicate research findings and justify management decisions through clear and well-organized written reports and oral presentations.
Note BAS-OM program core course.
