BASM 402 - Leading and Managing in a Diverse World 5 credits
Prerequisites Admission to BASOM or BS program.
Students will analyze the concepts, policies and practices facing leaders in a global workplace; including how to manage a diverse workforce by effectively managing/leading people who vary by nationality, ethnicity, culture, religion, gender, language, age, abilities, and unique personal characteristics.
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
•Explain key multicultural issues and analyze their impact on communication, collaboration, and equity in the workplace.
•Assess the inclusivity and cultural responsiveness of the work environment in relation to effective collaboration with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
•Identify and propose strategies to support employees in working effectively across cultural, ethnic, and identity differences.
•Demonstrate an understanding of privilege, bias, and systemic inequality, and evaluate how these dynamics influence workplace behavior and decision-making.
•Critically assess the implications of workplace issues-such as sexual harassment, cultural and religious practices, family responsibilities, and gender roles-on management policies and organizational culture.
