BAST 496 - Student Teaching I

Prerequisites
Admission to the BAST program.

Observation and participation in the opening of school. Candidates will be placed in a school internship related to their endorsement(s) where they will have the opportunity to practice and develop skills related to teaching. Emphasis will be placed on establishing a healthy learning environment and fostering an inclusive learning community at the beginning of the school year. Your concurrent BAST courses will incorporate opportunities for you to reflect on your student teaching experiences, including strategies for supporting English language learners.

Course Outcomes

Observe the process of beginning a school year
Develop an understanding of “setting the tone” in the classroom and demonstrate strategies for building classroom community and culture
