ALSA 140 - SUD Case Management and Recordkeeping 3 credits
This course introduces the student to the role of case management in substance use disorder treatment. Models of case management and the varying roles of the professional are examined. The student will learn approved methods of managing client record documentation, information gathering, processes, treatment planning and interfacing with community agencies (including but not limited to ASAM PPC). The course meets the requirements for Washington State Department of Health; Substance Use Disorder Professional License. This course is specific to Drug and Alcohol addicted individuals and meets the requirement for content area WAC 246-811-030 (Section I, J, Q, & V).
Theory Hours 3 theory hours.

AA General Elective May be used as a general elective in the AA degree.
Course Outcomes
- Demonstrate a proven ability to identify each element of a client’s record.
- Identify, explain, and apply assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries that meet the WAC requirement for clinical documentation.
- Review the golden thread from assessment to discharge in a clinical record.
- Implement the use of ASAM Patient Placement Criteria (ASAMPPC).
