HIST& 219 - Native American History 5 credits
Prerequisites Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 095 or placement in ENGL& 101 , or instructor permission.
This course offers an overview of Native-American history, culture, and politics from the origins of native nations in North America through the 20th century. The course also places an on-going emphasis on the history of Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest.
Theory Hours 5 theory hours.
AA Specified Elective Satisfies social science distribution area A requirement or specified elective for the AA degree.
Course Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Demonstrate the ability to gather, contextualize, and present multiple views of historical data.
- Demonstrate ability in using basic historical methods such as the understanding of primary sources and the appropriate use of other scholars’ work.
- Demonstrate an awareness of history as a tool toward active citizenship and successful participation in a diverse society.
