Prerequisites
Concurrent enrollment in ENGL 095 or placement in ENGL& 101, or instructor permission.

This course offers an overview of Native-American history, culture, and politics from the origins of native nations in North America through the 20th century. The course also places an on-going emphasis on the history of Native Americans in the Pacific Northwest.

Course Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate the ability to gather, contextualize, and present multiple views of historical data.
Demonstrate ability in using basic historical methods such as the understanding of primary sources and the appropriate use of other scholars’ work.
Demonstrate an awareness of history as a tool toward active citizenship and successful participation in a diverse society.
