MATH 098 - Intermediate Algebra 5 credits
Prerequisites A grade of “C” or better in MATH 097 or higher, or appropriate placement test score, or instructor permission.
MATH 098 builds on the Essentials of Intermediate Algebra introduced in MATH 097 . The more technical skills covered in MATH 098 are important for student success in Precalculus (MATH& 141 ) and Finite Math (MATH 111 ). Topics covered include: solving equations by factoring; simplifying and solving rational expressions and equations; simplifying and solving exponential and radical expressions and equations; using function notation; analysis of quadratic functions; and review of linear functions. Applications are drawn from the sciences, finance, business, and the social sciences. MATH 098 serves as a prerequisite to MATH 111 and MATH& 141 .
